Over the last few years the wedding industry has seen a switch
from the traditional style of photographer to the modern reportage
approach used by Stephen Waller Photography.
Young couples crave a more diverse range of contemporary
pictures taken, to fully document their big day, capturing all
the fun of the occasion with a mixture of natural and fun pictures.
Of course you will still want your tradition groups
taken….it wouldn't be a wedding without them…although
these are shot in a far more relaxed manner and with the minimum
of fuss.
Typical coverage of a wedding now usually begins
before the bride leaves home. The photographer will
arrive at a pre arranged time to snap a few pictures of the bride
with her family and bridesmaids, getting ready to leave for the
wedding venue. These can sometimes provide great shots as the
tension and anticipation builds for the exciting day ahead.
It’s then on to the venue to photograph the
groom and best man and some of the guests as they arrive, followed
by the bride in all her glory arriving in her car or carriage.
Different venues have different views on whether
they allow photography during the service, although generally
most now allow the photographer to take some pictures. One advantage
of using the latest Canon Professional Digital Cameras is that
pictures can be taken without flash, sometimes further away, in
low ambient light, which has the advantage of picking up the mood
of the occasion without intruding on the proceedings.
After
the service, with the register signed it’s then outside
to photograph the traditional groups. This can be done at the
wedding or reception venue and when this is over I generally like
to spend a little time with the couple, on their own, to capture
them in a slightly more relaxed mood away from the main party.
On return to the reception there is one job left
to be done and this is the cake cutting shot. This is the point
where I usually bid farewell and leave the couple to enjoy the
rest of the evening in the company of their guests, although occasionally
some couples like me to stay longer to document the evening as
well.
The above is only a brief guide to how the photography
is often taken, although this can be changed to suit the couple
and venue, as can the degree of formal and reportage style photographs.
After the event all your photographs will be downloaded
onto computer where they will receive rudimentary colour correction,
before being output to your proofing book. The advantage of using
the computer is that any prints you choose for your album, or
as individual prints, can be fully colour balanced and also have
small blemishes or imperfections removed. The option is also there
for more radical changes, perhaps with the background converted
to black and white, or blurred out, or maybe only the confetti
or flowers left in colour, the choices are endless.
Included with all my Wedding photography
packages
1) Photography as described, before, after and if
permitted, during your wedding ceremony.
2) A full set of bound proofing sheets to keep.
3) A proofing PC slide show on CD, so that you can
view your prints on most PC’s (time limit applies).
4) Web proofing: Your pictures can be uploaded onto
this website for viewing if you choose. (Great for viewing from
an internet cafe on honeymoon)!
5) A‘suggested album' via PDF, which you can
either change or modify if required. (We use the latest computer
programs which allow us to literally build an album before you,
changing pages, covers, overlays etc).
6) Full colour correction and general enhancement
of all your album prints.
7) An album and prints are included with all packages.
8) Advice on any album upgrades or framed prints
which may be of interest.
Whatever your budget I prefer to tailor each package
to the individual couple, showing them different albums
and letting them choose what they like.
Unlike an increasing number of other companies there
is no hard sell associated with my wedding services. If you shop
around you will find photographers offering cheaper starting packages,
although cheap photographers are seldom good and you will often
find that there are a lot of add-ons with those companies that
hook you with a low starting figure. I prefer to be up front with
my couples, letting them know exactly what they will receive at
a set amount.
Most of my work comes through recommendation and
I always consider it a privilege to be asked to document a couples
special day.
If you are interested in viewing some of my work
with a view to booking me as your photographer you will need to
either e-mail or telephone in the first instance to make sure
that the day you have set aside for your wedding is still available.
Once
that hurdle is over and if you like the sound of what I can offer,
we will then set up an appointment. This can either be at your
home or wedding venue or you can visit me in Felixstowe. The latter
is always the preferred option as I will have everything on hand
to show you (there is only so much that you can take to show a
client).
We will then discuss the different options open
to you in a relaxed manner and let you make up your own mind.
You simply choose whether or not you like my photography and style
and then decide on which albums you like best and we will set
about finding a prints / page option that fits in with your budget.
All that is left is for you to pay a deposit, which
secures my services for your big day. There is no time limit to
how soon you can book me to cover your wedding, but for weddings
on Saturday's in the prime months of the year, obviously it is
best to book as soon as possible. I look forward to hearing from
you.
